Can Skunks Do Damage?

Besides creating an intense odor as a means of defense, skunks can do great damage to lawns when foraging. They can destroy plants and grass. If you see holes in your flowerbed, they may be looking for grubs in your yard. They can create dens that are small and shallow, but you will likely smell a skunk before you see it. Being nocturnal animals, they are not typically seen during the day. Frequently, they are first identified by smells coming from under buildings, woodpiles, or other areas where they can create a home.
