Opossums are nocturnal scavengers and omnivores. Their diet can include insects, worms, carrion, reptiles, amphibians, birds and eggs, berries, fruit, and small mammals.
They may look aggressive when they show teeth or drool, but they are usually timid and would rather be left alone. If an opossum is outside and able to move away safely, it may leave on its own.
