Roof rats
Roof Rats are the most common rats we see on a regular basis. Roof rats typically live and feed off the ground so their preferred food sources would be pecans, acorns, or fruits. However, these rats will feed upon bird seeds, pet food, or any other food items available. Entry points are not limited to just the roof line, as these rats will come to the ground level as well to enter a home. All holes 3/4" and larger must be addressed.
Norway Rats
The Norway Rat or as some call Wood Rat, Field Rat or Sewer Rat; is a much heavier bodied rat. Typically lives in burrows in the ground or under sidewalks or driveways. In Rural areas you might find little highways where these rats have made themselves aboveground tunnels in the grasses to get to and from different feeding areas or burrows to help conceal them from the view of hawks trying to see them.

Most Texas homes and businesses with central HVAC systems will have condensation lines and drip pans. Rodents in attics can smell the water in these lines and often times gnaw the PVC to access the water. The pipe at new is white, the longer rodents in attic are using the pipes as a highway, the dirtier it becomes from urine from rats in attic and dust. These areas are where most people often find they have a rat problem in attic.
